The beauty of our tours is the immersive experience you get while in the bush. Within this environment there is very limited phone reception, and we cannot guarantee you will have signal. However, each vehicle is equipped with a satellite phone which can be used by guides in emergencies.
As our accommodation is mainly within campgrounds we also have limited access to power and therefore you may not be able to charge devices.
A bush camp is generally a camp site which may or may not have facilities. The site is much closer to a landmark such as a waterfall for quicker access. There is no electricity and therefore no light pollution which provides incredible starry nights.
The camps we go to, especially on the educational tours, all have toilet blocks.
We provide breakfast, lunch and dinner while on tour. The meals on your first and last day will be dependant on your time of arrival and departure. For example, this often excludes breakfast on day one and dinner on the final day of the tour. We will provide snacks throughout the tour.
While in camp our meals are cooked using BBQs, camp ovens or gas rings. We produce your favourites such as spaghetti bolognese, chicken parmies, potato bakes, etc.
When you book a tour with us we will send a medical/dietary form to you. Please ensure you let us know if you have any requirements or allergies we need to cater for.
Depending on your tour itinerary you will be travelling in a coaster bus or a 4×4 truck. All vehicles comply with Northern Territory Standards and Regulations.
When packing for your trip please be reminded, we travel in a tour truck with a trailer which has limited space available and along with luggage this needs to fit all of our food and equipment for the tour. Therefore, we ask you limit your bag to the size of carry-on luggage or a 40L backpack.
The main bulk of your luggage should contain:
- Sun hat
- Walking shoes & thongs for around the campsite
- Long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts
- Shorts/trousers
- Clothes to sleep in
- Sunglasses
- Reusable water bottle (we will provide the water for you to fill up)
- Sleeping bag/bedsheet and pillow
- Toiletries
- Towel
- Swimmers
- Head torch/small handheld torch
If you are travelling to the desert between May and October, please ensure your sleeping bag is suitable for -5 degrees as it gets cold in the night. Make sure you pack some warmer clothes for the evening.
Inclusions:
- Accommodation for the itinerary dates
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner on itinerary dates
- Truck and trailer for the duration of the tour
- Transport to and from the agreed pick-up point before and after tour
- The knowledge, experience and service of a tour guide
- The sightseeing, bush walks and all other activities unless otherwise specified in the itinerary provided
- National Park permit fees

- Extra optional activities and personal expenses
- Accommodation on the last day of the tour (clients advised to book this in advance, we can assist if required)
Overland Oz tours are often in remote areas where we will bush camp in tents, using king single swags. The itineraries include lots of hikes and waterfalls. We are often in areas within the national parks where the walking trails are uneven and you may be required to walk on uneven tracks which can include climbing over boulders, through sand or up and down rocky hills. Due to the nature of our tours, a reasonable level of fitness would apply and we ask you do not participate in our tours if this would have an adverse impact on your physical and/or medical condition. However, it is important to us that the beauty of Australia is enjoyed by all and therefore, if you have specific requirements please contact us directly and we will endeavour to meet your needs.
We would like to note our buses do not have wheelchair access.
